Blister foil is a type of packaging material used primarily for pharmaceuticals. It consists of a plastic or aluminium blister that holds individual doses of medication and is sealed with a layer of aluminium foil. The blister protects the contents from moisture, light, and contamination, ensuring the product's integrity and shelf life.
Components of Blister Foil Packaging
- Plastic Blister: Made from materials like PVC (Polyvinyl Chloride), PVDC (Polyvinylidene Chloride), or PP (Polypropylene), the blister holds the product in individual cavities.
- Aluminium Foil: A thin layer of aluminium is used to seal the blister. It can be plain or printed and often has a heat-seal lacquer for better sealing properties.
- Heat-Seal Coating: This layer ensures the aluminium foil adheres to the plastic blister when heat is applied.
